Venezuela bars alcohol near Copa America soccer stadiums |

The Venezuela government on Tuesday published in the Official Gazette the decision that it hasbanned small retailers from selling alcohol and fans from drinkingon the outskirts of the soccer stadiums and training grounds used by the 2007 Copa America soccer competition.
The Official Gazette said the resolution, published in OfficialGazette number 38,712 which details Monday's resolutions, also bars drinking in the areas around the fields and on access roads.
The ban comes into force on June 26 at 6:00 p.m. when the firstCopa America match begins, and ends on July 16 at midnight.
Police and state security corps stewarding the events will haveto ensure the resolution is strictly adhered to, and if the rules are broken, must apply the sanctions laid down in the resolution.
It is the first time the Copa America has been held in Venezuela. It takes place in Barinas, Maracaibo, Maturin, San Cristobal, Puerto Ordaz, Barquisimeto, Merida, Puerto La Cruz andCaracas.
