2008 Olympics commemorative coins to be sold in Japan |

A Japanese importer will start selling gold and silver commemorative coins issued by China's central bank for the 2008 Beijing Olympics in Japan from next week,Kyodo News said Wednesday.
According to Taisei Coins Corp, gold coins will be sold from July 9 for 283,500 yen (2324 U.S. dollars) per set of three pieceswhile a set of six silver coins will retail for 75,600 yen (620 dollars). The dealer will sell up to 2,500 gold coin sets and 3,000 silver coin sets.
The face value of each gold coin is 150 yuan, or about 2,400 yen, and that of one silver coin 10 yuan, or some 160 yen.
The head of each coin will feature the official Olympiad logo and the tails of the gold coins will bear the portraits of a horseman, an archer and a swimmer. The tails of the silver coins will show children engaged in traditional Chinese sports as well as the pictures of the Great Wall and the Summer Palace.
The company is expected to sell more commemorative coins for the 2008 Olympics with different designs next year, the report said.
