Games media accreditation goes smoothly |

The Beijing Organizing Committee ofthe Olympic Games (BOCOG) is in the first stage of media accreditation, which is going smoothly, said BOCOG in Beijing on Wednesday.
BOCOG adopted a two-stage accreditation process for the BeijingGames next year, namely the process of Press by Number accreditation and Press by Name accreditation.
"We have received Press by Number Forms from more than 100 NOCs,and we will go on doing this work and make it going smoothly, so as to lay a solid foundation for the next Press by Name Accreditation Process," said Sun Weijia, director of BOCOG's mediaoperations department.
From March 1 this year, BOCOG started to distribute the Press by Number forms with a deadline for NOCs returning them on June 15,2007.
From November 1, BOCOG will begin the Press by Name process by sending them to NOCs and accredited organizations. The deadline for return is February 29, 2008.
From May 2008, BOCOG will send out Olympic Identity and Accreditation Cards which will go into effect on July 8 and be accepted as a valid multiple visa into China including Hong Kong SAR.
There will be 5,600 journalists from written press and photographers for Beijing Games, the same as in Athens in 2004 andSydney in 2000. The accreditation numbers for rights-holders 4,000for Beijing Olympic Broadcasting Co, Ltd. (BOB) and 12,000 for Rights Holding Broadcasters (RHBs).
