China smashed co-host Malaysia 5-1 while Indonesia overcame Bahrain 2-1 in 2007 Asian Cup group stage on Tuesday.

China quickly gained advantage in Bukit Jalil National Stadium, forcing the Malaysian side to concentrate on its defense.

Forward Han Peng opened China''s scoring with a close-range header in the15th minute following a nice cross by midfielder Wang Dong. Shao Jiayi scored again in the 36th minute with an easy tip-shot at the goalmouth.

After the interval, China continued its offense. Wang Dong and Han Peng scored for China in the 51st minute and the 55th minute.

Malaysia''s forward Mahayuddin Indra Putra picked up a consolation goal for the home side on 72 minutes with a powerful long-range shot.

But Wang Dong changed the score board to 5-1 with a header in injury time.
