Uganda's U-19 squad will be up in arms against unknown quantities when the International Cricket Council (ICC) U-19 World Cup Africa qualifiers get underway in South Africa this August. The qualifiers will run between August 25-30 in Benoni, Gauteng Province and only one berth will be at stake for the eight competing nations to book a berth to the 2008 world youth cricket event to be hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Little known Ghana, Zambia and fierce neighbors Tanzania are in Pool B with Uganda whereas favorites Kenya, unpredictable Namibia and Ghana will face off in Pool A. The top two teams in each pool will face off in semis, with the winner of the final qualifying for Malaysia 2008. Uganda has been to the most prestigious junior cricket biennial showpiece twice (Bangladesh 2004 and Sri Lanka 2006) and will be aiming for a third consecutive appearance by grabbing the lone spot at stake.
