The ninth All-Africa Games means a lot to Caroline Owese, the only female athlete of the Kenyan rowing squad. It is her opportunity to fight for a slot of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

"My dream is to be a Kenyan women sculler at the Beijing Olympic Games. For the dream, I have to be successful in the All-Africa Games and I am aiming to enter the top three in Algeria," the 24-year-old Owese told Xinhua on Friday.

Owese, from Kenyan Navy, started her rowing training two years ago. She went through hard training to prepare for the All-Africa Games. Ahead of the event in the Algerian capital, Owese participated in two competitions in South Africa and Spain and ranked the third and the fifth respectively.
