South Korea defeated co-host Indonesia 1-0 to narrowly advance to the knock-out stage at the Asian Cup here on Wednesday. South Korean players, who had to win to stand any chance to qualify, launched relentless attacks after the whistle. South Korea gradually controlled the game and broke the balance in the 33th minute when midfielder Kim Jung-woo blasted the ball home near the penalty area.
Indonesia put more force into attacking after the interval, but failed to get an equalizer which will ensure its ticket for the knock-out stage. South Korea is to fly to Kuala Lumpur to play against No. 1 team in Group C.
