Nepali girls lose to Bangladesh in finals of Asian women's cricket tournament

Nepali women's cricket team lost to Bangladesh by eight wickets in the final of the ACC Women's Cricket Tournament held in Malaysia on Wednesday.

According to local media reports, Nepal put a total of 26 runs in 18 overs, electing to bat first. Bangladesh took just 9.4 overs to chase the target for a loss of two wickets.

Both Nepal and Bangladesh reached the final remaining unbeaten in their groups.

Nepal had cruised to the final beating China in the semi-finals Tuesday.

Nepal had chased the target of 41 runs set by China Monday in 14.3 overs

losing just one wicket.

Earlier, Nepal had a competitive match against China's Hong Kong that had set a target of 21 runs in 23.5 overs. Nepal had to wait till the 23.5 over to secure a place in the semifinals on June 15.

However, the Bangladeshis had defeated Hong Kong by 59 runs to continue its winning streak in the tournament and enter the finals on Tuesday.

Bangladesh elected to bat first and scored 101/7 in 30 overs.

In reply, Hong Kong was bowled out for 41 in 23.3 overs.

Bangladeshi girls were favorites, having had no difficulty whatsoever in their earlier matches.

They defeated United Arab Emirates (UAE), Singapore and China in the league round and Hong Kong in the semifinal.
