Canada and the United States split the first two badminton gold medals at the 15th Pan American Games here on Wednesday.

Lee Eva and Mesinee Mangkalakiri of the United States scored a straight set victory of 21-14, 21-15 over Canadian pair Fiona McKee and Charmaine Reid for the women's doubles title.

Canada made it even in the men's doubles final when Mike Beres and William Milroy beat their American rivals Howard Bach and Bob Malaythong 22-20, 21-13.
