Iraq's key midfielder Saleh Sadir's knee injury is not as serious as thought, giving his team a strong boost before the clash with South Korea in the Asian Cup semi-final on Thursday.
"Saleh has passed an important medical test on his knee and the specialist has given us very good news that he can restart training," Iraq coach Jorvan Vieira was quoted by the Malaysia Star.
The Lebanese-based midfielder was injured and replaced shortly after half-time in Iraq's 3-1 win over Australia in Bangkok and subsequently missed his team's next two games.
"He's very happy and he's got his motivation and hopefully we can use him in the semi-final, even as a substitute," Vieira said.
Sadir was a member of Iraq's team that reached the semi-finals of the 2004 Athens Olympic football tournament after the Iraqi beat Portugal and Australia along the way.
