Japan had more chances than Saudi Arabia but failed to score more, said Japan coach Ivica Osim on Wednesday after his team lost 3-2 to Saudi Arabia in the Asian Cup semi-final in Hanoi.

"Japan created more chances in the match than Saudi Arabia, but unfortunately the players can not score more," said a disappointing Osim at a news conference.

He noted that there are some problems in the midfield, giving Saudi Arabian players "open space" to attack freely.

"The Japanese team has a lot to improve in the future," he added.
