The United States won the team title of synchronized swimming and qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
In Saturday's free routine competitions on Saturday, the American team had the same outstanding performance as in Thursday's technical routine.
The American team, which had scored 47.500 points in technical routine, recorded a higher score of 48.167 in the free routine. They totalled 95.667 points for the gold medal.
The silver medal was taken by Canadian team with a score of 95.251, followed by Brazil in the third place at 90.750 points.
Kim Probst, a member of the American team, said they fulfilled their primary target--qualify for the Beijing Olympic Games: "We came here to try to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. I am very happy with the team. We were well succeeded and could reach our goal."
Another American swimmer Kate Hooven said they prepared very well for the Pan Am Games and Saturday's cold weather had no effect on their performance: "We train in California. Down there, the weather is quite similar to what it was today in Rio de Janeiro. We're used to this temperature."
