The AFC President Mohamed bin Hammam said on Sunday it is a pity for China and Australia to exit the Asian Cup early.

"We expected much more from China and Australia. I thought Chinese team will qualify for knock-out stage, and it has many young players," Hammam said at a news conference.

He said that Australia was expected to enter the semifinals at least, but that did not happen.

He also suggested Australia should make more preparations for the tournament.
