Dutch football powerhouse Ajax have signed Dutch defender Jurgen Colin, who played for English side Norwich City last season, on a one-year contract, with an option for two more seasons, the club announced on Tuesday.
Colin, born in Dutch city Utrecht on Jan. 20, 1981, had a successful 2006/2007 season in Norwich City, but when the new club manager Peter Grant took over, he lost his place to versatile midfielder Andy Hughes.
In early July, Colin was invited to a three week trial with Ajax, and the transfer was finalized this week for a fee of 100,000 euros.
He started his career at PSV Eindhoven, and joined Belgium's KRC Genk later in the year. He also played for Dutch club NAC Breda before returning to PSV. In 2005, he left PSV for Norwich City.
