Angwenyi said Mathew Kisariwo has been picked to replace Matebo while John Gituu and Julius Kirwa will strengthen the team. "We are going to wait until investigations are complete because we can say they have defected while they were sick. We want to find this out from their parents," Angwenyi said.
AK chairman Isaiah Kiplagat said on Tuesday the two have allegedly sneaked out of the country for greener pastures in the Gulf States where they intend to change their citizenship.
"The athletes may have been convinced not to represent Kenya since doing so would delay any move to change nationality," said Kiplagat.
IAAF rules stipulate that once an athlete represents his country he cannot be allowed to change nationality until after three years.
"No one is allowed to sneak a young athlete out of the country without AK''s permission. We are requesting the government to take action against those involved," he said.
