A football squad of the Democratic People's Repubic of Korea (DPRK) arrived in South Korea Tuesday to prepare for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup tournament set to begin next week.
The DPRK squad, including 23 player and their coach, arrived at the Incheon International Airport in the morning and then travel to the city of Gwangyang, about 300 km south of Seoul.
According to local media, the DPRK team will train in Gwangyang and play undisclosed friendly matches against a local semi-professional team and the professional team of Haiti on Sunday and Monday respectively.
South Korea is the host of this year's U-17 tournament, which runs from Aug. 18 to Sept. 8. The matches are scheduled to be held in the cities of Ulsan, Suwon, Cheonan, Gwangyang and Changwon.
DPRK reached the quarterfinals of the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Peru and reached last year's AFC U-17 Championship final.
DPRK will play their Group B opener against England on Aug. 18 in the island of Jeju.
