Los Angeles Clippers forward Elton Brand took surgery Tuesday to repair his ruptured left Achilles tendon, the National Basketball Association team said.
Brand, 28, was injured on Friday working out.
Brand will wear a cast for six weeks before progressing to a walking boot for six weeks after that.
The forward is not expected to return from Delaware, where the operation was performed, to Los Angeles for at least two weeks.
A two-time All-Star, Brand averaged 20.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 80 games last season.
