The International University Sports Federation (FISU) would present its Highest Honorary Decoration to Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej, local media reported on Thursday.

An official statement sent by FISU to the Bangkok World University Games Organizing Committee said it wished to present the decoration to the king on Friday.

The king designated Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn to receive the Decoration on his behalf.

The king was an avid sportsman, winning a gold medal in sailing competition at the South East Asian Games in 1967.
