Russia won the first shooting gold medal in the Universiade history by collecting 1,658 points in the men's 10m air pistol team event on Friday.
The silver medal went to Ukraine with a total score of 1,637 points. South Korea finished third on 1,627 points.
The four-day competition of shooting, first introduced into the Universiade program, offers 40 gold medals out of 20 events.
The Summer Universiade consists of 10 compulsory sports -- Athletics, Aquatic Sports (swimming, diving, water polo), Basketball, Fencing, Football, Gymnastics (artistic and rhythmic), Judo, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball, and up to five optional sports chosen by the host country.
The Bangkok Universiade selected badminton, golf, shooting, softball and taedwondo into the competition program.
