Chen Weiwei from China clinched the title of the women's skeet with 94 hits in her international debut here on Saturday at the 24th Universiade.
Chen led the qualification round with 71 hits out of 75 targets, one hit ahead of South Korea's Kim Ae Kyun, and kept a cool head during the 25-target final round, hitting 23 targets to secure the historical gold medal for herself.
"It was my first time to compete in an international competition, so I am extremely happy that I win," said the 22-year- old Chen. "And I am very satisfied with my score. I've shown almost the best form."
Kim, who tied with Chen in total after 23 targets in the final missed both the two on the easiest shooting position, and finally finished with a bronze medal on 92 hits. Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit from Thailand took the silver with a total of 93 hits.
"The total score of 94 hits is really a high mark for Universiade, and is even competitive in World Cups," said Qian Xiaobing, coach of the Chinese youngster.
