Gerhard Mayer of Austria won the discus throw title with the last throw of 61.55 meters at the 24th Bangkok Universiade on Saturday.

Gerhard, 27, had been at the second place following Egypt's Omar Elghaizaly. But his amazing gold-winning throw simply left the Egyptian to take the silver medal back home with a distance of 60.89m.

Mart Israel of Estonia took the bronze in 60.32m.
