The Chinese team began its gold haul by winning seven events on Saturday, six of them from the shooting competitions, at the 24th University Games here.
After winning only two gold from the first two days, Chinese dominated the shooting range by wrapping up six golds out of 12 on offer.
Asian Champion Gan Lin opened the spree by winning the men's 10m running target individual title with a score of 582 points, just one point ahead of Kukasz Czapla of Poland. The team title went to Russia with a total of 1,721 points.
Chen Weiwei, an international debutant from Shanghai, grabbed the other individual gold medal for China in the women's skeet event with a total of 94 hits.
The other four golds all came from team events which were the women's 10m air rifle, trap, skeet and the men's 50m rifle three positions.
"It was really a surprise that we got the title in the men's rifle," said Zhang Chi from Qsinghua University, coach of the Chinese team. "The guys had been preparing to go back to the village after the qualification round as they thought there was no hope of medals and the final."
World champion Zhou Zhuoru clinched the women's gymnastics individual all-round title for China with a total score of 60.200 points.
Collecting 14.250 points on vault, 15.550 on uneven bars, 15. 600 on beam and 14.800 on floor, Zhou eased to the champion.
China was denied one of the most important victory as Zhang Peimeng claimed the silver medal by 10.33 seconds in the men's 100m sprint.
The Chinese athletics team immediately filed a formal complaint after the race for an obvious false start of the gold medalist, Simeon Williamson of Britain, who timed 10.28.
The spectators booed the champion while he was jogging along the track, holding the national flag in hands.
In the women's 100m sprint, Finland's Johanna Manninen trimphed in 11.46 seconds.
Russian Alexander Shustov overcame 2.31 meters to claim the men 's high jump gold medal.
In the pool, the seven gold medals on offer were split by seven countries.
