Defending champions Brazil beat China 1-0 in the women's soccer quarterfinal at the Bangkok Universiade on Monday.
Brazilian Viviane Villar scored the winning goal in the 34th minute through a free kick.
The Chinese team, formed on U-19 national squad, played more aggressively in the second half but squandered the best scoring chance in the injury time.
China finished second in the 2005 Universiade soccer tournament in Turkey.
Owing to the accidental 3-1 loss to Chinese Taipei, Brazil met China, who earned a triple win in the group C, in the quarterfinals.
China coach Gao Rongming said, "The two sides played a balancing game today but we failed to concentrate on the defense of that free kick."
"The weather is so hot today that my players felt exhausted too early," he added.
