As one of the main candidates to claim title in judo events at Beijing Olympics, Tong Wen, who won a gold at the 24th Universiade, said she needs to beat all opponents to realize the gold expectation in 2008.
"Only one player can be the champion," she said.
Tong, 24, snatched the women's over 78kg title on Monday, bringing the Chinese university judo delegation the first gold at the Bangkok Universiade.
Tong said she hadn't met real rivals in today's event, although the Russian and Japanese judokas were strong.
"They didn't dare to make initiative attacks against me," said the gold medalist, who beat Turkish judoka Belkis Zehra Kaya with an Ippon.
Tong, the gold medalist of 2005 World Judo Championships and Doha Asiad, said, "I have been dreaming for a gold in Olympics, which she hasn't been attended until now.
Tong missed the opportunity to go to Athens three years ago as she lost to Sun Fuming, gold medalist in Atlanta Olympics, at the qualification competitions.
China has dominated the women's over 78kg category in consecutive three Olympics from 1992 to 2000. Tong has to fight for the only ticket to attend Beijing Olympics among strong domestic opponents, namely Yuan Hua, gold medalist of Sydney Olympics and Liu Huanyuan, Doha Asiad gold medalist.
They will compete in four-round national qualification matches. In the first two, Tong achieved first and third places respectively. There are two more for her.
"No one knows the final result until the last minute," Tong said.
