Lucky losers Cao Na and Zhao Xiaolin from China had some back luck on Thursday as they were ousted by Swiss Isabelle Eusabeth Klara Forrer/Sarah Schmocker 2-1 at the FIVB beach volleyball women's challenger held at Chaoyang Park of easten Beijing.

Cao and Lin, who grabbed the last chance of advancing after beating Renee Smith Cleary and Jennifer Lombardi from United States in the lucky losers playoff later on Wednesday, came onto the 12,000-seat main court again early Thursday morning but failed to stop the Swiss team after losing the third set 15-10.

Coming into the round of 16 on a three-match winning streak, second seeds Forrer and Schmocker fought back from 19-17 down in the opening set, reeling off four straight points before winning at 21-19.

The Chinese duo squared the match at 21-16 in the second set.
