Paddlers from China showed their traditional power at the Bangkok Universiade as they made one-two finishes in both men's and women's singles competitions on Thursday.

Gao Xin eased past Hou Yingchao 4-0 (11-4, 11-8, 11-6, 11-3) to take the men's title while Rao Jingwen edged Liu Juan 4-3 (5-11, 9- 11, 11-6, 2-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-6) to win the women's gold.

The relatively tough tests for the paddlers from China came from the semifinals, in which Gao Xin upset Ghuang Chih-yuan from Chinese Taipei 4-1 (9-11, 11-9, 11-7, 13-11, 11-8) and Rao Jingwen beat Nanthana Komwong from host Thailand 4-2 (6-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11- 3, 11-3, 11-1).
