Paddlers from China showed their traditional superpower at the Bangkok Universiade as they breezed to collect six out of seven golds on offer.
In the last two finals, all competitors from China, on Thursday, Gao Xin eased past Hou Yingchao 4-0 (11-4, 11-8, 11-6, 11-3) to take the men's title while Rao Jingwen edged Liu Juan 4-3 (5-11, 9- 11, 11-6, 2-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-6) to win the women's gold.
The relatively tough tests for the paddlers from China came from the semifinals, in which Gao Xin upset Ghuang Chih-yuan from Chinese Taipei 4-1 (9-11, 11-9, 11-7, 13-11, 11-8) and Rao Jingwen beat Nanthana Komwong from host Thailand 4-2 (6-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11- 3, 11-3, 11-1).
In the other events, China also won the gold medals of men's team, women's team, women's doubles and mixed doubles.
The men's doubles gold went to Chinese Taipei.
The seven-day table tennis competition of the 24th Universiade concluded here on Thursday.
