Japanese judoka Fukumi wins women's 48kg gold at Universiade

Japanese judoka Tomoko Fukumi claimed the women's 48kg title at the 24th Universiade on Thursday.

Fukumi overpowered her opponent, Nataliya Kondrateva of Russia with an Ippon after only 42 seconds in the final.

It was the sixth gold for judo powerhouse Japan at the Universiade.

The bronze medals went to Severine Jeannette Pesch of Germany and Meriem Moussa of Algeria.
