Singapore, Myanmar make tie in ASEAN U-17 football championship

Singapore on Wednesday made a tie of 3-3 with Myanmar during the fifth match of the ASEAN ( Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Football Federation (AFF) U-17 Championship Tournament 2007 held here.

During the first half of the match, Singaporean player Md. Fazi B. Yahaya scored a goal at minute 18 in the lead of Myanmar. At minute 42, Kaung Thet Aung, Captain Player of Myanmar, scored a goal too.

In the second half, Myanmar player Thet Naing scored a goal at minute 47, and Kyi Linn scored one more goal at minute 59, making Myanmar nearly to win the match.

But at minute 66, Singaporean Player Md. Alqaasimy B.A. Rahman scored a goal and Ng. Yong Voo Stanely scored one more goal at minute 74, making the match end in a draw.

"In the first half of match, my boys did not play well, but in the second half they played well. They face tough challenges with Myanmar and we are happy with this result," Singaporean coach Abdullah Moh D Noor told reporters after the match. Singapore lost 2-0 with Vietnam on Monday.

Myanmar coach U Khin Maung Tint said that they will try to play better in the next matches. Myanmar will play with Laos and Vietnam in group B.

The first ASEAN U-17 football championship was held in 2005 in Thailand, with Myanmar being the winner, and the second in 2006 in Vietnam, with Vietnam the winner.
