Former French international Jean-Pierre Papin will replace Guy Roux as coach at struggling first division side Lens.
The 68-year-old Roux stunned French football when announcing he was quitting after just four games late Saturday and on Sunday unveiled Papin as his successor.
"Jean-Pierre Papin has already been hired," the veteran manager who spent 40 years with Auxerre before being lured out of retirement by Lens told RMC radio.
Papin's first game in charge will be Thursday's UEFA Cup second round second leg tie against Swiss side Young Boys.
"I'll hang on to run him through the team, and also talk to him about Young Boys since I've been studying them," Roux said.
