An Indian court has directed state-run firms not to take action against players, who work with them as employees, for joining an unofficial cricket league, the Hindu reported Tuesday.
In an interim order on a petition by the Indian Cricket League (ICL), Delhi's high court said players should not suffer because of the fight between the national cricket board and the rebel body, the Hindu reported.
Promoted by Essel Group, India's largest listed media firm Zee Telefilms Ltd, the ICL has signed up West Indies batting hero Brian Lara and four Pakistan players, including former skipper Inzamam-ul Haq.
It has petitioned the court to prevent the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and state-run firm from interfering in its activities or acting against players signing up for it.
