Australia coach Tom Sermanni is confident of beating Ghana on Wednesday to get their first Women's World Cup victory.
Australia are without a single win during the past three World Cup, and let Ghana make their first victory at the women's soccer showpiece tournament four years ago. But Sermanni consider his side to be of big difference from the past.
"I don't think the past record against Ghana will have any effect on us. We have improved and formed an organized team with more continuity." said the Scottish boss.
"Over the last two years we found a group of consistent players. Our squad has changed a lot compared with four years ago."
Sermanni expects an exciting game tomorrow with more attacking, he said:" It'll be an open game. You know the African teams are always playing like that. It'll be an attacking game."
Sermanni denied that it's a must win game, saying that if the result is not good, Australia still have two matches to go and the game against Ghana is just an important game.
"It's an important step for us to get into the quarter-finals. If we win that will put us into an advantageous positon to advance.
The recent warm-up wins over hosts China have given great boost to the Matildas. Sermanni are satisfied that in the tune-up games the Australian players could seize the goal-scoring chances and got early goals.
But one thing that Sermanni worried is their little knowledge about the "Black Queens".
"We have some video footage of the game Ghana played Nigeria. I think there will be some unexpected things during the match. And that's quite unpredictable."
