Li Ping of China won the gold medal in the women's 53kg category at the world weightlifting championships on Thursday.
Li, 19, lifted 92kg in the snatch and 126kg in the jerk to catch the gold medal with a winning total of 219kg.
Li, world champion in 2005, tried to break two world records of the jerk and total in her last attempt, but failed.
Nastassia Novikava of Belarus hoisted the silver with 213kg and Yoon Jin-hee of South Korea the bronze with 211kg.
