Asian Football Confederation has handed Iraq national Muaad Saleem an 18-month ban on Wednesday after the defender was tested positive for a banned substance during last year's Asian Games in Doha.

Saleem's suspension will be served from May 16, making him eligible to play in November 15 next year.

The 25-year-old player, playing for Baghdad club of Al Quwa Al Jawiya, was a member of the Iraqi team which lost 0-1 to host Qatar in the final of the Asian Games football tournament in December.
