Brazil's football federation reveals competition calendar of 2008

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) revealed on Tuesday the official calendar of competitions in 2008.

The 2008 football season will begin with the State Championships from January 16 to May 4.

After that, the first division of the Brazilian National Championship will begin at May 11 and end at December 7. The second division will begin at the same day but end at November 30.The third division from July 6 to November 23.

The other national tournament, the Cup of Brazil, will begin at February 13 and end at June 11.

In 2008, there will be three international competitions for Brazilian teams: the Libertadores Cup of America from January 30 to July 2, the South American Cup from August 13 to December 3, the World Clubs Cup from December 14 to 21.

The Brazilian national team will play six qualifiers of the 2010 World Cup: June 15 against Paraguay, June 18 against Argentina, September 7 against Chile, September 10 against Bolivia, October 12 against Venezuela, October 15 against Colombia.

In addition, the national team will also play three friendly matches between March 26 and August 20.
