DPR Korea defeated Japan 3-1 in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-19 Women's Championship 2007 here on Wednesday, topping the Group A and facing China in the upcoming semifinal on Saturday.
Japan scored first in the 15th minute when Ataeyama Konomi bulged the net with a medium-range shot.
Ten minutes later, DPR Korea's Cha Hu Nam leveled the score. In the 61st minute, Ra Un Sim made it 2-1 for DPR Korea. And Ri Jong Sim sealed the win on 69 minutes with a header.
"In this game, we learned a lot of techniques from the Japanese team, because the level of the Japanese team is very high," Choe Kwang Sok, head coach of DPR Korea said in the post-match press conference.
"My team will continue with its efforts in the upcoming semifinal and grab the next opportunity," Sasaki Norio, head coach of Japan said.
By defeating Japan in Group A's last game, DPR Korea became the winners of the group and will encounter Group B's China in the upcoming semifinal on Saturday, and Japan will have to face Group B's No. 1 South Korea in another semifinal on the same day. Source: Xinhua
