Brazil national soccer team manager Carlos Caetano Bledorn Verri, better known by his nickname Dunga, on Tuesday left his footprints on Rio stadium Maracana's walk of fame, a space dedicated to the soccer celebrities.

The homage to Dunga, who captained the 1994 Brazil soccer team that won the nation's fourth World Cup, took place just before the last Brazil training session ahead of the team's qualifying matches against Ecuador for the 2010 World Cup.

The former winger made a figure four in the concrete with his hands, but did not speak to press during the ceremony. However, in a statement on the Brazilian Football Federation webpage he said he was honored to be alongside the great athletes that made history.

The walk of fame opened in 2000 and Dunga is the 93rd athlete to leave his prints.

Dunga took over the squad on Aug. 16, 2006, tasked with renewing the national squad after its lackluster performance during the World Cup in Germany. Although he had never served as a manager before, Brazil has won 14 matches and lost only two under his leadership.
