David Beckham made a request to play his 100th game for England from Natal, Brazil, on Tuesday.

"Being asked to represent your country is always special, and when you make it to your 100th appearance, it is even more special," said the 33-year-old, who was invited to lobby the opening of a soccer stadium complex and a luxurious resort in Brazil.

"It would mean a lot to me. I hope it happens quickly because my fingers are crossed," said he.

Although the veteran is on vacation from playing with the LA Galaxy, he guaranteed to be in shape.

"I've worked hard during the last six weeks to be ready for Feb. 6 game. If I am invited, great. If I am not, it's not a problem. That's part of soccer," added Beckham.

Last week, England head coach Fabio Capello said that he did not plan to invite the star to play in Feb. 6 friendly against Sweden.

Capello noted that he prefers to test young players to fill Beckham's spot, such as Shaun Wright-Philllps with Chelsea and David Bently with Blackburn.
