The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) said Friday it would switch the venue of the final match to Bandung after the Jakarta Police headquarters banned the match in the capital for security concerns.
"The Jakarta Police have warned against having the final match in Jakarta, as the situation here is not conducive," PSSI secretary-general Noegraha Besoes said in a press conference.
The final between North Sumatra's PSMS Medan and South Sumatra's Sriwijaya FC was initially scheduled for Saturday at the Bung Karno Stadium.
The date of the final match is now switched to Sunday.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs Adhyaksa Dault said earlier in the day local clubs were barred from playing at the country's oldest and largest stadium after a 27-year-old soccer fan was killed in a riot on Wednesday.
Angry fans also destroyed vehicles and stadium facilities after the semifinal match that eliminated Jakarta's Persija.
The minister told Metro TV playing the final in Jakarta this week would be dangerous and morally incorrect, in regards to the family of the dead fan. Source: Xinhua
