Argentina took on Friday a 2-0 lead against England at the end of the first round the Davis Cup's World Group played on clay courts in Buenos Aires, capital of this South American country.
The two first singles games proved Argentina's tennis power in three sets played at Roca Park. Argentine players took advantage of the absence of England's best player Andy Murray (11th ranked worldwide) due to an injury.
South America's best tennis player David Nalbandian (9th ranked worldwide) defeated Jamie Baker (239) by 6-1, 6-3 and 6-3, in one hour and 43 minutes.
Nalbandian had 42 winning shots against 23 from Baker, while he made 22 errors, five more than Baker.
"I won fast, playing fairly well and we are 1-0," said Nalbandian thanking Argentine fans support. He added "people want us to win the Davis Cup just as much as we do." Argentina has never won the title of the Davis Cup.
Then, Argentine player Calleri (41st ranked worldwide) defeated Alex Bogdanovic (187) by 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1 in one hour and 49 minutes.
