China will send two Olympic shooters to take part in the second World University Shooting Championship (WUSC) which started on Wednesday through to Saturday in Beijing.
Feng Jianzhong, vice director of the General Administration of Sport of China, declared the opening of the tournament on Wednesday afternoon.
China has selected a team of 35 members for the event. Among the competitors, Zhao Yinghui and Cao Yifei from the Tsinghua shooting team have represented China to compete in the Beijing Olympic Games in August.
According to Chen Xu, vice-president of Tsinghua University and also Executive President of the Organizing Committee, other four shooters, apart form Zhao and Cao, from Tsinghua shooting team will also compete in the tournament.
The Tsinghua shooting team is one of the top-level university sport teams in China, with Olympic champion and chief coach of Chinese Shooting Team Wang Yifu being the part-time coach. Many of their shooters have represented China on all international levels.
More than 400 shooters from 29 countries and regions will fight for 16 gold medals in rifle, pistol and shotgun events.
