Nigerian Super Eagles coach, Shuaibu Amodu, has promised to give more opportunity to the U-23 Beijing Olympic team players in Wednesday's international friendly against Colombia, reported the Independent newspaper.

Amodu said this in view of the envisaged players' apathy toward honoring the invitation for the friendly that will be played 3 a.m local time on Wednesday. He stressed that presently, he has extended invitations to all categories of players, noting that going by the response that he has received it appears the U-23 boys were the ones that are favorably disposed to play the game.

The soccer tactician said Nigeria has got good talented football players any coach can select to prosecute any game, noting that the important thing would be to give the players the psychological interpretation of what they are likely to encounter from the opposing team.

According to him, Colombia used to be one of the strong nations in football and Nigeria would not expect anything less.

"They will bring to the table the kind of flair of football that is typical of a Latin American side and we would have to deal with it," he said.

He added that Nigeria should not forget that the encounter was arranged as tune up match for the team, which aims at putting the team in shape for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, there is going to be some experiments with more emphasis on players' mental strength and team work. The coach said every player has 50-50 chance of making the team, which obviously depends on the player's current form.

"Every player that impresses the coach will get his attention when the need arises, that is why friendly are organized as much cannot be achieved in real match situations," he added.
