The Tunisian born, German international midfielder, Sami Khedira will join Real Madrid for a five-year contract, which was announced on Friday by Stuttgart's sports director, Fredi Bobic.
23-year-old Khedira who plays for Stuttgart came into the limelight during the last FIFA World Cup when he replaced Michael Ballack who was ruled out for injury. The amount of the transfer, which has not yet been disclosed, is believed to be in the region of 13 million euros, making Khedira the best paid Tunisian player of all time.
Khedira who played an impressive World Cup tournament helping Germany finish third after winning a play-off match against Uruguay, is still under contract with Stuttgart until 2011.
"It's only reluctantly that we are letting him go, but we can understand Sami's wish to join Real," said Bobic. Several sports journals have included Khedira in the ideal World Cup team.
