Three Brazilian players were among those awarded as the best of this season's Beach Volleyball World Circuit during an award ceremony divulged by the Volleyball International Federation (FIVB) on Thursday.
Three-time champion, along with Juliana, Larissa was elected the best setter of the year. Six-time champion Shelda received the award for most inspiring player. And Ana Paula conquered for the fifth time the best serve of the circuit.
"Since I moved to the beach volleyball, in 1999, I give special attention to my serve. Marcos Miranda, who was my first coach, always warned me about the importance of this element, especially for the ones who do a lot of blocking during a game", said Larissa.
"During a game in which the couple is tired or where there is wind, a good serve makes the difference. I never used to serve a high ball on the court, but at the beach I have learned I am really good at it", added the athlete whose serve was clocked at 83,6 Km/h.
Brazil shared with the US the main prizes. Apart from the individual awards, Walsh and May also won the sportsman of the year, and Larissa and Juliana won best team of the year.
