In his latest inspection tour to the Olympic venues, Liu Qi, president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Beijing Olympiad, urged the engineers and workers to treat their work seriously with an aim to deliver quality venues for the forthcoming Olympics.

Leading a number of municipal government officials, Liu visited the National Aquatics Center, the National Indoor Stadium, the National Conference Center, and the National Stadium on Wednesday.

Briefed on the progress of the projects, he encouraged the builders to never be content with their achievements but rather to seek even greater perfection.

"We need to put quality first and conduct timely risk tests and assessments in terms of telecommunications, security, firefighting, and power supply to make the venues compatible with the requirements of the large-scale games," he said.

He stressed the need to carry out the concept of scientific development, insist on the people-oriented principle, and provide convenient services to the athletes, spectators, and other stakeholders in catering, road signs, and even toilets.

The venues should not only be first-class architecture, but also standard facilities giving every user a sense of humanity, Liu added.
