Norwegian Hegle Svendsen won the men's biathlon 20-kilometer race on Thursday in the Slovenian town of Pokljuka, securing his first career biathlon World Cup victory.
Svendsen finished in 51 minutes, 58.1 seconds with perfect shooting over 20 targets. He was one of just three competitors to score with every shot.
Alexander Wolf of Germany was second, 48.6 seconds behind with one missed target.
Ukrainian Serguei Sednev, who recorded his best career performance, was third, 1:55.9 behind Svendsen with one miss.
Norway's biathlon super star Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, who finished 20th on Thursday, continues to lead the overall World Cup standings with 205 points from Dmitri Yaroshenko of Russia. Source: Xinhua
