Second-seeded Li Xiaoxia denied world champion Guo Yue to claim the title of the women's singles at the year-ending "Good Luck Beijing" ITTF ProTour Finals here on Sunday.

Li, 19, who ousted world No. 1 Zhang Yining 11-7, 11-7, 7-11, 11-3, 10-12, 15-13 earlier Sunday to make the final, won over the world No. 3 Guo 11-5, 11-6, 7-11, 7-11, 11-6, 11-9.

"I performed quite well today," said the excited Li. "I made less mistakes than her."

"I communicated with my coach very well before the match, and I made several adjustment in mental, which is even more important than the changes in tactics," said Li, who just paired with Guo to win the women's doubles gold by winning over South Korean Kim Kyung Ah/Park Mi Young 11-3, 11-7, 8-11, 11-3, 7-11, 15-13 earlier Sunday.

"I was very confident during the match," she added. "I think that's why I succeeded at last."

Li, who lost to Guo at Zagreb Worlds final this year to settle for a silver, broke the world No. 3's rhythm at the beginning as she won the first two sets 11-5, 11-6.

The world champion struggled to come back to her best form as she won the following two sets back at 11-7, 11-7.

However, Li stayed calm and found her rhythm again to take the victory of the fifth and sixth sets in a row to win the gold medal.

Guo did not talk much about the match. "I was not in form so I lost," she said.
