The pairing selection of the 2008 Paralympic Wheelchair Basketball competition was held on the morning of January 23, 2008. The twelve men's and ten women's teams were each divided into two groups.
The teams first drew their grouping lots. After they have been selected into their respective groups, they drew the number for their competition order. The results are as follows:

Sir Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee, and Mrs. Craven were present at the ceremony. Mr. Wang Xinxian, President of China Paralympic Committee, Mr. Yang Shu'an, Executive Vice-President of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), Mr. Xin Lancheng, Deputy Secretary-general of BOCOG, and Ms. Maureen Orchard, President of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation also attended the ceremony.
