Olympic champion Wang Meng of China broke the women's 500 meters world record with 43.286 seconds during the fifth stage of the short track World Cup in Quebec, Canada, on Sunday.
Wang trimmed 0.3 seconds off the old record of 43.671 seconds set on October 19, 2001 at Calgary, Canada, by Bulgaria's Evgenia Radanova.
