Big-hitting Chen Dinggen's joint-fourth finish in the 115,000 U.S. dollars Kunming Championship has powered the 28-year-old to third in the Omega Order of Merit.

With Zhang Lianwei missing the Kunming event, the third one on this year's Omega China Tour, and eight-time winner Li Chao missing the cut for the first time in 21 events on the Omega China Tour, no change has been at the top of the money list.

Lu Wen-teh's RMB150,000 winner's pay cheque is not included in the Omega Order of Merit as he was one of the event's two invites from Chinese Taipei, while runner-up Benny Ye Jianfeng, 16, and third-placed Su Dong, 18, are both amateurs.

As such, it was the trio tied for fourth at the stunning Lakeview Golf Club in Kunming who made the most progress in the latest money list.

Chen picked up a cheque of 54,000 yuan to take his earnings in the first three events of the year to 73,200 yuan, significant money for the Jiangsu-based pro, whose previous best finish in three years on the Tour was 25th in this year's Guangzhou Championship, when he won 9,600 yuan.

He lay in second place after each of the first two days following rounds of two-under-par 70 and 73 in windy Kunming, which is almost 2,000 meters above sea level.

A 77 dropped him back to sixth place before he rallied with a closing 73 to tie for fourth with Kunming-born Liu Anlin and American Jim Johnson, now fourth and fifth respectively in the Omega Order of Merit.

The fourth-place finish by Beijing-based Johnson was the best by a 'foreigner' on the Tour, following this year's allocation of 10 spots at each event for expatriate professionals resident in Greater China.

The trio finished one stroke ahead of Wu Weihuang and Wu Kangchun, who each earned RMB16,250 for finishing seventh.

A former Kung Fu champion, the 40-year-old Wu Weihuang is sixthin the Omega Order of Merit after also finishing tied-eighth in Guangzhou and fourth in the Dell Championship in his native Xiamen.
